Older Patients: Special Hints for a Good Night's Sleep

Are you having trouble sleeping? Here are some helpful hints that may apply to you and your sleeping problems.

Sleep only as much as you need.
Oversleeping can make you even more tired.

Keep a regular sleep schedule.
This can help your wake-sleep schedule.

Do not work at falling asleep.
If you can't sleep, get out of bed and do something else until you're drowsy.

Reduce unwanted noise and light in your room.
Investigate ways to minimize the unwanted noise and light.

Keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature.
A too-warm or too-cold room can disturb and interrupt your sleep.
