Concussion Evaluation

The neurological exam your medical provider will perform for any concussive injury will include, but is not limited to:

  • Evaluation includes:
    • Detailed neurological history and physical
    • Computerized neurological testing with comparison to Baseline testing if available
  • Further testing may also include:
    • EEG
    • MRI of the head
    • CT scan

Depending on the severity of injury, hospitalization may or may not be required. If your medical provider decides observation at home is acceptable, an adult should be present with you for the first 24 hours after the concussion to check on you every few hours. You may need to be awakened periodically to make sure you can be roused to normal consciousness.
